Throughout the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, it has become clear that accurate and rapid diagnosis is key.

You will receive from us a committed attention and an agile and flexible service. As a reference, at the beginning of the pandemic we were one of the four private laboratories accepted by the Departament de Salut de la Generalitat de Catalunya to process public health PCR.

Diagnostic Laboratory

It carries out personalised analyses of different disciplines interpreted by specialised technicians:

  • Immunology and Serology. Determination through indirect immunofluorescence techniques (IFA) of antibodies for studies of infectious diseases and autoimmune diseases. Confirmatory methods through Dot Blot techniques. Determination of neuropeptides and other biological molecules associated with autoimmune processes.
  • Flow Cytometry. Analysis of cellular markers applied in immunology and hematology.
  • Pathological Anatomy. Different types of biopsy studies and cytology in samples of various origins.
  • Microbiology. Study of parasites by microscopy and detection of bacteria and fungi in samples from different sources through cultures in selective and differential media, as well as antibiotic and antifungal sensitivity tests.
  • Molecular Biology. Molecular study through various methodologies, such as RT-PCR, fragment analysis and sequencing, for the study of: genetic and hereditary diseases, HLA genotype, paternity studies, prenatal diagnosis and qualitative and quantitative detection of various pathogens.
  • Cytogenetics. Culture and karyotype study in different types of samples: amniotic fluid, peripheral blood, bone marrow, chorionic villi, abortions and stem cells. Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) applied to infertility, prenatal, constitutional and oncohematology studies. Sperm fragmentation studies. Pre- and post-natal CGH-arrays (comparative genomic hybridization).

Clinical Laboratory Functions

Our clinical laboratory is a support to the maintenance of public health since through our work it is possible to confirm or not a diagnosis. Ambar Lab’s technicians and professionals analyze biological samples to study them in order to study, prevent, diagnose and treat diseases. Therefore, the 3 main functions are:

  • Study. Analysis of samples to learn and know more about the diseases, constantly improving in the identification and treatment of them.
  • Diagnosis. To know the pathologies in order to make decisions that help and improve the life of each patient.
  • Prevention. We help the health system to take the necessary measures to prevent diseases.
